The first 3 years I searched for Maitake(Hen of the woods), I found them quite easily, in abundance! 2023 has been a different story. I'm blaming it on the lack of rain, although I have seen many pictures and heard tales of what a great year this has been for The Hen. Kevin, from #Blieridgechagaconnection, and I took a full day of finding stuff not edible to happen upon this 18 lb beauty, and another 5 lber, some Lions Mane, Oysters.
